- Jesus appears to the apostles & tells them to baptize with the power of the holy spirit. After 40 days, He ascends to heaven in a cloud. The apostles gather in an upper room with Mary & other women to pray. They cast lots to replace Judas, & Matthias is chosen. #Ac1
- The Pentecost of cloven tongues of fire sat on the disciples who, filled with the Holy Ghost, speak with other tongues. The apostles see this as proof of the risen Christ & baptize in Jesus’s name. David says The Lord said to my Lord, Sit until I make thy foes thy footstool. #Ac2
- Accompanied by John, Peter heals a lame beggar at a temple gate. Speaking to the Israelites amazed at his healing, Peter reminds and accuses them of the death of Jesus, and how He was the Messiah promised by the prophets. #Ac3
- Peter & John, now with more than 5000 followers, are arrested and taken before the Sanhedrin. Told not to speak, they cannot but speak the things they have seen & heard. No salvation in any other name. They are released, & many believers give their belongings for the poor. #Ac4
- Ananias & his wife Sapphira fall dead after holding back earnings from selling their land. The high priests are threatened by signs and wonders of Peter & the apostles, who are jailed but miraculously escape. The Sanhedrin debate their case but let them go after a flogging. #Ac5
- To address a dispute between Greek and Hebraic Jews about the distribution of food, the Apostles appoint seven men to perform these duties. One of them, Stephen, full of faith and power, is falsely accused of blasphemy and brought before the Sanhedrin. #Ac6
- Answering the high priests, Stephen recounts the stories of Abraham, Jacob, Moses, & the persecution of the prophets. Ye have slain Jesus. Who made ye a ruler & a judge? Ye betrayers & murderers who took up the tabernacle of Moloch. Stephen is cast out of the city & stoned. #Ac7
- Stephen is buried with great lamentation. Saul, who witnessed the stoning, persecutes believers in Christ like Phillip, causing them to scatter. Simon, a sorcerer, offers money for the power of the Holy Ghost and is rebuked. Philip meets an Ethiopian eunuch and baptizes him. #Ac8
- On the road to Damascus, Saul is stricken blind from a vision of the Lord. After 3 days, Ananias tells Saul that the Lord has chosen him to suffer for my name’s sake. The skeptical disciples finally accept him. Peter cures a man of the palsy & raises Tabitha from the dead. #Ac9
- A God-fearing Centurion named Cornelius of Caesarea has a vision to find Simon Peter at Joppa. He sends men to get him. Peter, in a trance, is told by the Lord that there are no clean & unclean. Meeting Cornelius, Peter preaches that God respects all nations that fear him. #Ac10
- Peter tells the apostles and brethren in Judaea of his vision and visit to Cornelius, and how God has also granted repentance to the Gentiles. Barnabas and Saul preach the glad tidings to the Greeks in Antioch. The disciples are called Christians. #Ac11
- King Herod puts John Mark’s brotherJames to death & imprisons Peter, who is freed by an angel. Peter reveals himself to John’s mother Mary. Herod orates to the people, but an angel of the Lord strikes him down & the worms eat him. Barnabas & Saul return to Jerusalem. #Ac12
- From Antioch, Saul & Barnabas sail to Cyprus to preach the word of the Lord & unmask a false prophet, Bar-Jesus. Saul, now called Paul, then goes to Pisidian Antioch to preach the forgiveness of sins to both Jews & Gentiles. I have set thee to be a light to the Gentiles. #Ac13
- In Iconium, the preachings of Paul & Barnabas cause division. They flee to Lystra, where Paul heals a cripple and converts many. The people say, God has come down to us in the likeness of men. Paul is stoned but revives. We are human, the disciples say, & return to Antioch. #Ac14
- Circumcised to be saved? This question brings Paul & Barnabas to Jerusalem. Paul says, Salvation through the grace of our Lord. Abstain from pollution of idols, fornication, things strangled & blood. Judas, Silas, Mark, Paul & Barnabas write letters & preach in every city. #Ac15
- In Lystra, Paul circumcises Timothy. Lydia, a believer, helps Paul & Silas in Phillipi. Paul & Silas anger a slave’s owner by casting out the slave’s spirit. They are beaten and sent to prison, but escape when it is destroyed. The jailer is converted. #Ac16
- Paul preaches of the risen Christ in Thessaloniki. Many are converted. He disputes recalcitrant Jews at the synagogue & talks to Greeks about their gods, known & unknown. He hath made of one blood all nations for to dwell on Earth. The resurrection is mocked & Paul leaves. #Ac17
- Paul goes from Athens to Corinth, staying with the synagogue leader Crispus & his family. Jewish leaders of Corinth attack Paul, but Gallio, proconsul of Achaia, has no interest. Paul refutes his opponents. Apollos, a Jew, proves from Scripture that Jesus was the Messiah. #Ac18
- Paul preaches at Ephesus for 2 years, so all heard. He casts evil spirits out of sorcerers—Jesus I know, & Paul I know about, but who are you? He threatens the business of silversmith Demetrios: Great is Artemis of the Ephesians! The city fathers do not find Paul at fault. #Ac19
- Paul goes on to Macedonia. At Troas, Paul revives Eutychus, who falls out a window during Paul’s sermon. Paul meets the Ephesian elders at Miletus and bids them farewell. Paul quotes the words of the Lord Jesus: it is more blessed to give than receive. #Ac20
- Paul returns to Jerusalem amid a commotion that the new Christian sect defies Mosaic law. Paul reached Caesarea and stays at the house of Philip the evangelist, one of the Seven, with four unmarried daughters who prophesied. Paul is arrested and asks to speak. #Ac21
- Paul addresses them in Aramaic: I am a Jew, born in Tarsus of Cilicia, but brought up in this city. He tells how he persecuted followers of the Way, but was converted on the road to Damascus. The crowd is unruly. The Romans beat Paul. He tells them he is a Roman citizen. #Ac22
- Paul starts a dispute between the Sadducees, who believe in no resurrection, and the Pharisees, who do. Paul testifies in favor of the risen Christ. A group of more than 40 Jews take a vow to not drink nor eat until Paul is dead. The Romans provide Paul escort to Caesarea. #Ac23
- The high priest Ananais and some elders go to Caesarea to press charges against Paul. Governor Felix, a friend of the Way, grants a trial. The crux of the issue is the doctrine of the Resurrection. Paul languishes in prison as Felix is replaced with Festus. #Ac24
- Festus convenes a trial in Caesarea, but Paul’s accusers dispute issues of theology (about Jesus) only. Paul argues that he has done nothing wrong against either the temple or Rome, and appeals to Caesar. Paul talks with King Agrippa and Berenice, who are to decide charges. #Ac25
- Paul recounts his life, conversion, and ministry. It is hard for thee to kick against the pricks. He tells King Agrippa that his beliefs are in accord with the prophets, and Jesus is prophecy’s fulfillment. Agrippa and Berenice do not find Paul at fault under Roman law. #Ac26
- Paul, under Roman guard, sets sail for Rome. After arriving at Sidon, Paul is allowed to meet friends. Then they sail to Crete, hoping to winter in the western port of Phoenix, but a storm drives them out to sea. Paul assures them that they will survive the shipwreck. #Ac27
- Shipwrecked, the people on Malta help them. When a viper attaches itself to Paul, they think that he is a murderer & then a god. They make their way to Rome after wintering there, greeted by Christians informed of Paul’s arrival. Paul preaches for 2 years from house arrest. #Ac28
